David Cartawick
Personal Trainer
I started Boxing at age 9 and have been involved in all aspects of sports and fitness training for more than 45 years.
I am the Head Coach of the British Karate and Kickboxing Association. As a 6th Dan Black Belt, I’ve coached thousands of people in the field of martial arts over the years, including 41 World Champions and numerous other title winners. I’ve been awarded Chesterfield Sports Coach of the Year four times, and Derbyshire Coach of the Year three times. I was also fortunate enough to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Pan American Internationals in 2016.
During my time in Chesterfield, I’ve formed links with a number of local clubs and institutions, working closely with Chesterfield College and Chesterfield FC. Ever since I first started coaching, I’ve been driven by a love of helping people achieve and surpass their personal goals, whether that be weight loss, fitness, confidence building or sport-specific coaching.
This passion was central to the founding of The Studio, and is just as much a part of how we work today as it was then!

Hannah Kendall
Personal Trainer
I’ve had a love of sports and fitness in some way since I was a child, and have been working as a personal trainer for the past 5 years.
I’m immensely passionate about what I do, and like a lot of my clients, I’m always looking for the next big challenge to overcome. Within 6 months of getting my personal training qualification, I went from training one person to leading a warmup for 1500 people at a local charity event! I’ve competed in both regional and national martial arts tournaments over the years, winning several first places in both points fights and kata.
With a Level 3 personal training certification, I’m qualified to deliver training for pre and postnatal fitness, older adults, children, and disabled clients. I’m also proficient in training people of all ability levels in strength and conditioning, indoor cycling, boxercise, and fitness pilates.
Outside of my work at The Studio, I also work closely with Chesterfield FC, Chesterfield college, Fairplay, and a number of local schools and charities.
I’m a great believer in the importance of exercise, and the power it has to transform anyone’s physical and mental health for the better. This has always been a driving force behind my approach to personal training, and I’m confident you’ll notice the difference from our first session!

Mel Gibbons
Personal Trainer
I've been a Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor for over 10 years.
I got into the Fitness Industry after my own weight loss and fitness journey. Knowing how daunting it is to take those first steps made me realise that I wanted to help others achieve and surpass their personal goals.
Through my own life experiences, you'll get a PT who listens to you, understands life obstacles and will do the very best I can to understand you and lift you up when you're having a bad day. Training isn't just about your Physical Health, but your Mental Health too. It's about making small achievable lifestyle changes.
PT sessions can be 1to1, or train with a friend. I aim to deliver a session that meets your goals and leaves you feeling happy and motivated.
I am a level 3 qualified PT; I enjoy delivering sessions in a Functional Fitness style to give an all-over body workout. I'm also qualified in Pre and Post-Natal exercise, Pelvic Floor strengthening, Tai Chi for Health, Kettlebells, Suspension Training, PiYo and Insanity (HIIT)
